About The Mommy Network-Moms Meetup Group

FACTS, ANSWERS AND QUESTION ABOUT OUR GROUP

Who can join The Mommy Network?

We welcome any mother who has the time and desire to attend an active playgroup. Kids of all ages are welcome, as well as moms-to-be! Right now our membership consists primarily of moms with infants to preschoolers.

Who should not join The Mommy Network?

Anyone who will not be an ACTIVE MEMBER!!!! If you join, you are expected to post on the message board, RSVP and ATTEND EVENTS!!!!!

What is the "No Lurkers Rule"?

 All new members have 30 days from the time they join to attend a playdate.
 This is so we know who is in our group! We don't want to have "strangers" lurking in the background taking in all our information.
 If you have not bothered to come to an event within 30 days of joining our group, you'll be removed. You can always rejoin at a later time when you can be an active participant.
 If you've come to an official event and met the Organizers, you may attend any and all events as they fit your schedule and needs.
 If your $4.00 MEMBERSHIP FEE is not paid within two weeks of joining, you will be removed from the group.

What can I expect at a event?

 Our group meets mostly in Peekskill, Cortlandt Manor and Yorktown Heights.
 Your organizers do try to vary the locations so everyone can attend. Centrally located parks are the most frequently chosen spots for our weekly playdates.
 We also meet monthly for a MOM'S NIGHT OUT WITHOUT CHILDREN. Location of those outings vary from a coffee shop, to a restaurant, the movies, drinks and more.

Speaking of Events...

What does RSVP mean?

 RSVP stands for Répondez S'il Vous Plaît (French: Reply, if you please, commonly seen on invitations)
 Please only RSVP "yes" for events if you are sure you can attend. A "yes" RSVP should be treated like any other commitment you would make. It is very disappointing to attend an event that had 12 "yes" RSVP's only to see a few actually show up! So as a courtesy for the rest of the group, please change your RSVP with at least 24 hours notice if possible.
 Some events do not allow for a Maybe RSVP, so please only say "Yes" if you're committed to attending.
 Also, occasionally events will have a maximum allowable # of attendees, so please don't take up spots unless you will be at the function.
 It is very important that you check the calendar, message board and your emails in case an event is cancelled.
 I ask all members to give me their cell phone or home phone number in case we have to cancel an event at the last minute.

 What if I want to host an event at my home?

YAY!!

 We're happy to have playdates, parties, and girls nights at member's homes! Please contact your organizers (via the links to on the website) to set up the event.

What are group ratings?

After each event, you are sent an email to tell the organizer what you thought. Those ratings are tallied and from your response comes our group ratings!
You can also check the ratings for a particular event by clicking on past events, and clicking on the event you are interested in. There you can read what others thought of the event, and what sort of rating it got.
Please note that when you rate an event it will effect our general group score. Even a neutral rating will bring down our group average, so please rate accordingly.

Is there a fee to join this group?

Membership Dues are $4.00 a year. Some outings will require you purchase a ticket, food, etc for yourself and your child. Any events involving a fee will have the amount clearly listed on the meetup.com event calendar.

Can I advertise on the message boards?

We discourage advertising your business on the message boards. However, if you would like to advertise hosting a private party (Tupperware, Pampered Chef ect) please contact the organizer, and we can set up an event listing for you, assuming you meet the "active member" criteria.

I hope this covers most of the bases. If you have any questions, please contact us!

Thanks,
Tricia and Gina

There are a few simple rules for this group...

1. New members must attend an event within 30 days of joining.

2. Members who have not visited the site in over a 2 month period will be removed (this is only due to the large size of the group, we want everyone to be active somehow).

3. Please be sure to include some information about you and your child(ren) in the profile section when you sign up. This is to help us all get to know each other a little before we meet you and so we know who to look for when we meet you out.

4. PLEASE BE SURE TO PAY YOUR MEMBERSHIP DUES.

5. Please be sure not to post any type of advertisement on this site (job opportunities, in home parties, ect) without checking with the organizers first.

6. Have a great time with this group and meet as many new friends for you and your child(ren) as possible.

We are a well-established Moms-group, but we're always growing!! Our events are varied-and there's something for everyone offered. Some examples of our meetups include parks, potlucks, day trips, lunch and breakfast meetups, indoor playgrounds, in- home playgroups, Mom's Night Out.

Most of our meetups are in the Peekskill, Cortlandt Manor, Yorktown Heights area.

We pride ourselves in the diversity of our group-which includes all types of mothers: stay at home moms, work out of the home moms, work at home moms, married moms, single moms, and stepmoms. Our children cover a wide variety of ages and stages. (from infants up to teen years) It truly is amazing to see how much the children enjoy the events and members. And the support network and friendships between our members is something we are proud of.

OUR MEMBERS ARE EXPECTED TO LOGIN AT LEAST MONTHLY to our meetup.com website, AND TO ATTEND AT LEAST ONE EVENT IN EVERY MONTH IN ORDER TO REMAIN A MEMBER OF OUR GROUP.

As well, please post a picture in your profile within a week of being made an active member. Our group isn't meant for solely internet support-we're a meetup group with dedicated members who enjoy getting together with and without our children. We do have an active "message board".

We do have a "no show" policy i.e. : if you RSVP yes to an event, and don't show up, this will be noted. We have a three strikes you're out policy-only extreme circumstances will be considered. WE PRIDE OURSELVES IN HAVING COMMITTED, ACTIVE MEMBERS.
